I still cant find any photos of the motor bikes at Rockingham.

Rockingham welcomes Thundersport GB to the National circuit.

The season finale brings bike racing back to Rockingham for the first time in six years. Thundersport GB is the UK’s second largest bike racing series and offers riders and fans alike the chance to watch a variety of awesome two-wheel machines.

Somebody said there was a motor bike race at Rockingham Speedway today, but I took over, well lets just say I took too many photos and didn’t see any motor bikes.

More than 300 competitors from 18 countries assembled at New Lodge Fields near Aston Northamptonshire for the 2009 World Conker Championships.

Thomas Gormley, from Orton Brimbles, Peterborough, dressed as Rab C Nesbitt was crowned king of the conkers after smashing his way to the title of World Conker Champion, the 53-year-old Scot claimed the secret of his success, after eight years of trying, was down to a change of technique. He also said he believed his costume may have helped.

“This is absolutely brilliant,” he said. “I come every year, I’ve come for the past eight years and always wanted to win it.”

“This year I tried a side-swipe for the first time,and it seems to have worked.

“Maybe that’s the secret. I think being dressed as Rab C Nesbitt helped. It gave me a bit more confidence and maybe gave me the edge.”

This year’s women’s champion was Sue Howes, 58, an accounts worker from Overstone Lodge, Northampton.

Richard Howard, chairman of Ashton Conker Club, said: “It’s been a brilliant day. It’s been a bit cloudy but generally speaking, apart form a few spots of rain, it’s been fine.

Generally believed to be named after Queen Victoria who took tea here in 1866, the viewpoint actually commemorates Queen Isabella, wife of Robert the Bruce who ruled Scotland between 1306 and 1329.

The stunning view across Loch Tummel to Schiehallion (1081 metres / 3547 feet) is one of the most famous in Scotland.

Every man and his dog who visits Scotland has this photo. So it would be rude not to.
